Spinach Calzones
Calzones are delicious Italian turnovers, usually made from pizza dough. Save your leftover dough and throw together some of these tasty treats!
Ingredients
- 1 loaf frozen pizza dough, thawed
- 8 ounces fat-free Mozzarella, shredded
- 10 ounces spinach, frozen chopped, thawed and well-drained
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 4 ounces canned mushroom stems and pieces, drained
- 1 garlic clove, minced or pressed
- 2 tablespoons red wine
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Divide dough into 6 equal pieces. On baking sheets sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, pat each piece into a 7" circle.
- Combine remaining ingredients; mix lightly. Spoon approximately 1/2 cup of mixture onto half of each circle. Fold dough over filling; moisten edges and press together with fork to seal.
- Cut small slit in top of each calzone; lightly spray with cooking spray. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
