The traditional Monte Cristo sandwich has always been a favorite of mine, but I love this version as well...it's perfect for snacking and I'm sure would be great to make up a bunch and freeze for another time. The sweet version is definitely not my thing but I do love the mustard idea and would probably put it on the inside of the sandwich before baking to incorporate all of that yumminess together.

I love this baked version of the classic Monte Cristo Sandwich. The ham and melted cheese inside the puff pastry is marvelous. I make these with one slice of ham and one slice of turkey just to step it up a notch. I love the finishing touch of confectioner's sugar and maple syrup for that wonderful sweet and savory flavor.

This Baked Monte Cristo sandwiches are healthy food because they are baked. They look yummy starting from the puff pastry used in the dough then stuffed with cheese and ham. My family will definitely like this. The maple syrup is optional for me. The sandwich itself is perfect without it.
