Chinese Drunken Chicken
You won't fine much better easy Chinese dinner recipes than this Chinese Drunken Chicken. All it takes is some light seasonings and wine and you've got an amazing most, delicious chicken. Pair it with a cold glass of white wine to complete the meal!
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken fryer
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 diced scallion
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- sherry or white wine
Instructions
- In a dutch oven or large stock pot cover chicken with water. Add condiments except wine to water. Bring to a boil.
- Cover and turn to medium and cook for 1 hour.
- Check level of water and add more if necessary (water needs to cover chicken) continue cooking on medium/low for 1 to 1 1/2 hours; the chicken is done when a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F at the thickest portion of the breast and thigh.
- Remove frying chicken from the water. Cool and dry thoroughly in the refrigerator (at least 6 hours).
- Cut chicken in half. Put in a large jar, cover with wine, and keep in refrigerator for a week. Serve cold with rice or noodles.
