    Swedish Meatballs

    Ingredients

    • 4 tbsp butter
    • 1/3 c minced onion
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 c fresh bread crumbs
    • 2 1/2 tsps salt
    • 2 tsps sugar
    • 1/2 tsp allspice
    • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1/4 pound ground pork
    • 3 tbsp flour
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1/8 tsp pepper
    • 1 c water
    • 3/4 c light cream

    Instructions

    Melt 2 tbsp butter in large skillet, and saute onions till golden. Meanwhile, in large bowl, beat egg, add milk and bread crumbs. Let stand five minutes. Add 1 1/4 tsp salt, 2 tsp sugar, allspice, nutmet, meats and onion. Blend well. In same skillet, heat remaining 2 tbsp butter. Shape meat mixture into small balls. Brown well on all sides. Remove to warm casserole; repeat till all meat balls are browned. Into fat left in skillet, sir flour, 1 tsp sugar, 1 1/4 tsp salt, peppe and slowly add water and cream. Stir thill thickened. Return meatballs to sauce and heat through.
