Easter Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 C Bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest.
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 tsp.salt
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 3/4 C milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 large raw eggs, colored
  • 2 tsps sprinkles (almonds, cookie sprinkles)
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tsp water

Instructions

serves 4 large servings. Run for a 1 hr dough cycle, punch down and let rest 5 minutes. Divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll each into 12 inch long ropes, wet hands. Wrap each rope around a colored egg. Cross ends and pinch together. Place on a lightly greased 13x9 pan. Cover and let rise until double in size, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Preheat oven to 375F. Brush breads with egg wash, don't touch the eggs with it. Sprinkle the sprinkles ontop. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool on rack.
