Notes
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened, divided
- 1 room temperature
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
Instructions
-
Attach kneading paddle to bread machine insert.
-
Combine, in this order, water, 2 Tablespoons of butter, egg, honey, flours and salt.
-
Level ingredients and dig a small well then add yeast. Set machine to “dough” and press start.
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

With floured hands remove dough and place on a lightly floured surface. Tear off small pieces, about the size of mandarin oranges, and set in a greased 9x9” baking dish so that they touch. Bake for 12-15 minutes then cool, in pan, on wire rack.
-
Melt remaining butter in microwave (about 25 seconds) and brush over tops of rolls before serving.
