I call this a coffee cake. I love coffee cake with a streusel topping. I could eat it all the time. This makes a pretty good size cake so it is good for a crowd or it will last a small family a few days of breakfasts or snacks. The crumb topping is so yummy!

I like how decadent this dessert is, it reminds me of these little crumb cakes I would buy at the local Hostess store. They were always my favorite treat because of the flavor in the crumb topping. Great idea. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I can't wait to see how close these taste.

The topping on this recipe is so picture perfect! I agree that the ingredients seem to be in very large quantities but remember that this serves 15 people (probably with fairly large pieces)! To half the recipe, I would probably use a 9 x 9 (or even an 8 x 8) baking pan so that way the cake is still fairly thick. If you would like a thinner cake, a 13 x 9 cake would work well. I wouldn't use a loaf pan because that would be too small.

Which is making me hungrier---the way this recipe sounds or the way it looks? The description and the photos of this crumb cake are wonderful, I was thinking the same thing that it would be good in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. The only thing that concerns me is the quantity of the ingredients--4 sticks of butter. It must make a huge cake which is too big for a small family.
