I love red velvet cake. I've never had a poke cake, so I'm definitely interested to try this recipe.

Sweetened condensed milk is great on cakes. I've had it on chocolate cake before but never with red velvet cake. I thought of using beet juice as a healthier alternative to red food coloring, so it's great to know that this was actually done in the past. Cream cheese frosting is great for red velvet cake. The textures, colors and flavors go well together. I once had a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting and it was amazing.

We love poke cakes and red velvet cake, so we will definitely love this. I love how moist poke cakes are, and I love how beautiful this cake is. I think I'll make this in February. It would make a wonderful Valentines (or President's Day) cake!

I have never been much of a red velvet cake lover, but it is a poke cake so it has to be good. Right? I was disappointed that after you poke the cake, you just pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake and that is what seeps into the holes. I would prefer a chocolate or red velvet pudding instead.
