Martha Washington's Pound Cake
Ingredients

- 15 ounces butter
- 1 pound sugar
- 1 pound flour, sifted 3 times
- 10 eggs, beaten separately
- large wine glass whiskey
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Instructions
(Modern Recipe) 1 3/4 cups flour 2 1/3 cups sugar 4 cups flour 1/4 cup rum 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon baking powder Mix and bake as for any cake. (Try 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325 degrees).
