Nun's (seed) Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 3 egg whites
- 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
- powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 Tbsp caraway seed
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla or rosewater
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
Cream butter and sugar; beat in yolks. Stir in slightly mixed egg whites. Beat well for 1 minute. Resift flour, salt and baking powder 3 times. Fold into batter alternating with milk. Fold in seeds and vanilla. Pour into a buttered and floured 9 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 2-3 minutes, unmold and invert to cool on cake rack. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
