Whipped Chocolate Coca Cola Poke Cake
"If you know someone that loves chocolate cake (duh) poked in the chocolate coke ‘tres leches’ fashion and has a fluffy whipped chocolate and coke infused whipped cream topping, you’ve come to the right place. What I call ‘tres leches’, a cake soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream, isn’t a true ‘tres leches’, in this cake. But it is reminiscent of that because the cake is soaked in a creamy chocolate cola sauce. Put everything together and you get a wonderful throwback of a old-time chocolate coke recipe where this 1950’s chocolate coke originated from when diving into this cake."

I have heard of that chocolate coke before, but never had the chance to try it - I think that it was well before my time. I did, however, have a chocolate soda before that came from an Italian specialty market, and it was great! Does anybody remember "Hubba Bubba?" It was a bubble gum flavored soda that was popular in the early 80's. I miss it!

I'm familiar with poke cakes and this chocolate one sounds like one I need to try. I know coke has been used as an ingredient in a whole host of recipes, but this is a new one for me. I seem to recall my mother having a chocolate coke from time to time at the local soda fountain. I never cared for that taste, but I can see how it might work in a cake. It's worth a try since now I'm curious as to what the addition of coke brings to the overall taste.

Oh my gosh. This cake looks drool-worthy. It may not be the healthiest, but sometimes you deserve to cheat!

I've made a version of this type of cake before but never with soda. I wonder what difference it makes? I brought my version to girl's night one time and everyone LOVED it and they all asked for the recipe. I will definitely try adding the soda because I'm SO curious as to the difference it will make. Thanks for sharing. It looks delicious!
