KFC Colonel Fried Chicken
The Colonel has been feeding my family with his classic chicken for years. I thought it was time for me to try to make his delicious crispy chicken recipe at home. My KFC Colonel Fried Chicken is close to, if not exactly, as delicious as the Colonel's secret recipe.

- 1 tablespoon seasoning salt
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 2 teaspoons sweet basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 2 tablespoons dry mustard
Instructions
- For every 2/3 cup of flour add 3 Tablespoons of spice mixture.
- Dip par-boiled chicken pieces (cooled) in flour mixture, then in egg and milk mixture, then shake in bag with flour mixture again.
- Deep fry till golden. (cook at 400 degrees F for 30 min if you want it to be extra crispy.)

I have worked on trying to get the original recepie down for years Unfortunatley I have never taken the time to write down measurements I can say I happed upon it while just mixing a bunch of seasonings together hoping for the best It may be close to the measurements above I use a flour base then add Season Salt Garlic Power Onion Powder Paprika Pepper Poultry Seasoning thyme basil red pepper I sometimes even use Italian seasoning omiting the thyme and basil depending on what I have in the cabinet The good ole Colonol said herbs and spices but I cant put my finger on the other I would say use a little extra salt I also dredge with buttermilk and egg prior to coating in the flour mixture My kids and friends say they think it is similar to the Colonol's recepie and I never end up with leftovers…Read More -

I followed the recipe perfectly...very excited, even bought Celery Salt for 6 bucks. Maybe it will be better cold in the morning...sorry to be a bummer but I call it like it is...good luck. No foolin my kids, not finger lickin good to them...

I haven't tried this recipe yet, but to me it could be better than Kentucky Fried. I have had better...don't think it's as finger-lickin as you do.

@tocat83 - Then it should be called "Better than KFC Chicken" If youre going to say its a copycat recipe then it should taste like the real thing regardless of what your opinion of that product is... Im sorry but I agree with Tammieroot ... its GOOD chicken but its not the original recipe from KFC or remotely close to it.
