Old School Molasses Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions
- Combine brown sugar, butter and shortening in electric mixer on medium speed till creamy.
- Add molasses and egg, continue beating till well mixed.
- Reduce speed to low, add flour, baking soda, spices and salt. Beat till well mixed.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until firm.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll balls in sugar.
- Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten balls with glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake for 8-11 minutes until set.
