Apple pie has always been my favorite...to me, it's not just a pie but instead, an aroma and flavor that tends to make me feel nostalgic and give me that sense of hanging out at my grandmothers and watching her bake her heart out. I've never made a pie using pie filling whether store-bought or homemade but I like the suggestion that was made in the comments...adding it to oatmeal, that just sounds amazing! Can this filling be made in batches and frozen and do you know how long it could be stored in the fridge?

We have two cooking apple trees outside and have just plucked the apples off them for this season! I have my own apple pie filling but I think with the amount of apples we got this year it will definitely be nice to have another option of a filling, this one sounds tasty!

Not too many recipes ago, I saw a recipe for a crescent apple pie. Now I can combine this recipe with that one and have a fresh new desert that I am sure my whole family will love. This recipe is so simple and if I make a double batch, I can freeze some for the next time I would like use the filling.

With fall upon us, it will not be long until the markets are selling those wonderful apples at a great price. I have never made homemade apple pie filling but I am hoping that it will freeze well, like potato pie filling, cookie dough, and bananas, so that I can use it when needed.

I am really looking forward to trying this recipe! My family LOVES apple pie and this method is way different than the one that I'm used to making. I have never pre-cooked the apple pie filling before using it. Usually we use raw apples and toss them with a bit of flour and spices and let it cook down inside the crust. I'm looking forward to using this filling as an ice cream topping! It sounds really delicious.

I tried to make this from another recipe I found somewhere else and it turned out okay. I think I am going to try this one next, it is different from the other one. We do not actually use it for pie filling but usually add it to our morning oatmeal.
