Yum! I have such great memories of my great-grandmother making a similar dessert to this! I love Italian desserts because they are extra creamy. Plus they pair so well with a cup of espresso or cappuccino- can't wait to serve this at my next brunch!

This is definitely a made from scratch dessert and takes time. It's worth it though for the fresh lemon flavor and rich flaky crust. Not everything has to be quick and easy all the time (but most of it has to be for me. lol), so when I decide to bake from scratch, it has to be worth it.
