Improved Strawberry Shrub
"Seasonal pickle twist on Jerry Thomas' 1862 lemonade by the glass recipe using a strawberry shrub syrup made with in season strawberries, blood oranges, cinnamon, low GI cane sugar and coconut vinegar, improved with a port float. This recreation of Jerry Thomas' vintage by the glass lemonade recipe is served over a mountain of crushed ice in a fancy wine glass garnished with a fresh strawberry and blood orange fans. The port adds a rich cherry and spice punch of flavour to the already delicious strawberry shrub. A versatile non-alcoholic base of strawberry shrub can be prepared ahead of time and then served as is or improved with a port float."
