Pie Crust Mix

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds or 20 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1-1/2 pounds lard
  • 2 cups shortening

Instructions

Makes 9 pies. Mix all ingredients together until crumbly. Store in tightly-covered container until needed. This should be refrigerated. When ready to bake pies, combine 3 cups mix with 1/3 cup milk. This ratio will make enough dough for two 9-inch pies.

The holidays are fast approaching and I can not wait to get started on my baking. This will go a long way in helping me this year. This year I intend to make a lot of baked goods to bring to church functions and as gifts to family and friends.

That's a lot of pies!!! I never have had any luck with biscuit or pie crusts, ever! Although I pride myself on baking from scratch, it never turns out right. However, I may need this much when they fail, lol.
