Smoked Fish Cakes with Tartare Sauce
Ingredients
- 250g potatoes, mashed
- 250g canned smoked fish, flaked
- salt and pepper to taste
- pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped parsley
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten
- dried breadcrumbs to coat
- oil for shallow frying
- 250ml mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp chopped gherkins
- 1 Tbsp capers
- finely chopped parsley to taste
Instructions
Combine mashed potatoes with all th fish cake ingredients. shape into small cakes, dip in beaten egg and coat with bread crumbs. Heat oil in frypan until hot. Fry cakes until golden both sides. Drain on absorbent paper and serve with sauce. Place all sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix together to a smooth consistency. Store in a screw-top jar. Will keep refrigerated up to 10 days.
