Anything that comes out of Stacey Little's kitchen is sure to get your stomach growling, and best of all, his recipes are simple dishes passed down through generations of his southern family. The Southern Bite Cookbook is a collection of 150 down-home, comforting recipes that use few ingredients and are easy to make. Stacey has no formal culinary training, his expertise is in creating simple dinners that bring the family together around the dinner table. In a way, that makes his recipes even more special and useful!
The thing I love most about The Southern Bite Cookbook is that all the recipes are the kind of recipes I could make after coming home from a busy day at work. They're quick, easy and completely comforting. In fact, the cookbook has an entire Weeknight Bites section. There are also chapters for Potluck Bites, Heirloom Bites and more, so you'll find recipes for any occasion.
Stacey Little is the creator of SouthernBite.com, a southern food blog, and his recipes always make me want to run to my kitchen. The cookbook is full of gorgeous photos of the kind of dishes you remember growing up with. I would love to curl up with his Slow Cooker Beef Stew after letting it cook all day. Not to mention his recipe for Martha Washington Balls, a real family favorite that includes my favorite combination of chocolate, coconut and pecans.
There's something comforting about the fact that these recipes are ones Stacey learned or created from his time cooking with his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. You know family recipes are good because they've stood the test of time and have been enjoyed by generations. When you combine old-fashioned family favorites with southern cooking, you simply can't go wrong.
