Sweet and Sour Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound cabbage, shredded
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bacon drippings

Instructions

(Sauer und Suss Gedampfter Kohl) Germany. Combine all ingredients except drippings. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add drippings. Mix. Serves 6-8
