Hawaiian Sweetbread

Ingredients

  • 2 pks yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 8-9 cup flour

Instructions

Sprinkle yeast in water. Scald milk and add butter and salt. Beat eggs and sugar until light. Add milk mixture to eggs and stir into yeast. Gradually add 3 cup flour Then stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto floured surface and knead. Add flour until smooth. Put into greased bowl, turning to grease top. Let rise in a warm place for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Punch down and let rise 10 minutes. Divide into 3 balls and put into three 9" (greased) cake pans. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled in size. Bake at 350 for 25 mins., reduce heat to 300 and bake until golden brown. Brush top with butter or Carnation Milk. Let cool.
