Kielbasa, Brussels Sprouts, Potato & Pear Skillet
"A one pot, Cast-Iron Skillet healthy dinner recipe filled with turkey kielbasa, Brussels sprouts, potatoes and pears. I love this one pot dinner because it's filled with healthy ingredients. For the flavors of this skillet meal, I went back to my childhood days in New Jersey. At the time I did not realize how lucky I was to have the availability of good quality, homemade food. I feel like I have been chasing that quality and homemade flavor ever since. In this case I was thinking about the kielbasa we use to get. I remember it being a bit of a drive to the store, but oh so worth it. At the time I thought everyone had kielbasa that tasted this good. It was moist but not greasy and the flavor, Wow! Serious flavor. It was a rude awakening when I tried kielbasa elsewhere. With this skillet I used a turkey kielbasa and amped up the flavor with spices that are found in traditional kielbasa. My family really enjoyed it, and it did remind me of my childhood love of kielbasa. The Brussels sprouts and potatoes add a nice savory flavor balanced by the sweetness of the pear. A little ground fennel set this recipe on fire. It was a good addition even though fennel is not normally a spice in kielbasa."
