Buttermilk Spice Muffins
Do you have a hard time finding free muffin recipes? Well look no further. This is one of our most basic muffin recipes and a real treat to eat as well. If you love buttermilk and spice muffins then this is the recipe for you!

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter or margarine (not spread), melted and cooled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon sugar, topping
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Spray 12 regular-size muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray or place 12 foil cupcakes liners on a cookie sheet.
- In a 2-3 quart bowl, stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices and salt until blended.
- Pour over flour mixture and stir just until mixed.
- Spoon into muffin cups or foil cupcake liners.
- Sprinkle with the 1 tablespoon sugar.
- Bake 25-30 minutes or until tops are lightly browned and muffins are springy to the touch.
- Cool in pan 5 minutes before turning out onto wire rack. Serve warm or room temperature.
