Ham Steak Hawaiian with Bananas
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup red or white wine vinegar
- 1 smoked ham center slice, cut 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick (about 1 1/2 pounds)
- 4 firm medium bananas
Instructions
serves 4-6. In 12-inch skillet over medium heat, heat brown sugar, butter or margarine and vinegar until sugar is melted, stirring frequently. Add ham slice to sugar mixture. Cook 5 minutes on each side or until heated through. With pancake turner, arrange ham on heated platter. Keep warm. Remove skillet from heat. Cut bananas into the sugar mixture in the skillet. Cook over medium heat, basting bananas with sauce until bananas are just heated through, about 5 minutes. With spoon, carefully spoon banana chunks onto platter to surround ham slice. Spoon sauce remaining in skillet over ham and bananas. Serve warm.
