Rustic Beef Soup

Ingredients
- bone of cured ham
- chorizo sausage, uncut
- blood sausage, uncut
- salt fat back, uncut
- stewing beef (single large piece)
- hen (large pieces)
- carrots (whole)
- potatoes (cut large)
- cabbage (wedges)
- chick peas, soaked overnight or canned
- salt to taste
Instructions
Vary amounts of all ingredients according to taste. Boil everything together in a large pot (pressure cooker is best) until chick peas are tender (about one hour in pressure cooker, three hours in normal pot adding water when necessary). Drain off broth and keep meat and vegetables warm. First the soup is served, usually with some angel hair noodles thrown in as well as a few chick peas and small pieces of chorizo. Then place meat on one large platter, vegetables on another and chick peas in a bowl and everyone helps themselves. Pass a dish of homemade tomato sauce.
