William Tell Overture Sandwich
Ingredients
- French bread
- Granny Smith apple, sliced thinly
- pepper-jack cheese, sliced
- sliced turkey, the higher quality the better
- sliced green chiles
- lemon-cilantro mayonnaise (recipe follows)
Instructions
Toast the French bread under a broiler. On one half of the toasted bread, pile the apple slices, turkey, chiles, and cheese, then return to the broiler until the cheese is bubbly. On the other half, spread the lemon-cilantro mayonnaise. Pop the two halves together and eat warm. Lemon-cilantro mayonnaise: cilantro leaves (as many as you like) lemon juice mayonnaise This doesn't keep very well, so only make what you're going to use. Chop the cilantro leaves up finely, and moisten them with a bit of lemon juice. Mix into a dollop of mayonnaise.
