Cabbage Poriyal
" This cabbage poriyal/cabbage thoran is a simple, quick and easy side dish, mildly spiced with exotic flavours and on your table under 10 minutes. This post was originally published in March 2014. It has been updated with contents and pictures. Cabbage poriyal or muttaikose poriyal ( in Tamil) is one classic recipe that is the chopped cabbage with lightly spiced dry red chillies, green chilli and stir-fried with grated coconut that gives you intricate texture. The seasonings are mustard seeds and urad dal is roasted to a golden brown colour that gives you nutty crunch to this cabbage poriyal. "
NotesSeasoning: I have used urad dal, you may use channa dal for the more crunchy texture.
Coconut: Adding fresh grated coconut gives you more flavours to this recipe. If you do not have coconut feel free to add desiccated coconut.
Veggies: You may add chopped carrots and peas along with the cabbage to a healthy veggie poriyal.
Make sure to chop or grate the carrot that helps to cook faster.
