This soup is delicious! I vaguely remember a friend of mine making it years ago. When I read the recipe I had fond memories of my friends. I enjoyed making it for my family. I did make a couple of changes. I used ground turkey meat and frozen mixed vegetables. This was so easy to make that I made one for dinner and one for the freezer. I paired this with jalapeo cornbread. Has anyone else tried it with a different kind of meat? Wondering if venison would taste good?

This is a fall and winter staple in our home. Because it is so easy to make and such a flexible recipe, it is easy to keep a pot in the fridge almost all winter! I use frozen mixed vegetables, frozen broccoli and then some fresh chopped cabbage. I use V8 instead of tomato sauce and toss in a few peppercorns to add more flavor. I also use minced garlic, italian seasoning and a couple cans of beans, usually black eyed peas and dark red kidney beans. This is a recipe that almost cannot fail. If you like it, throw it in! The most important thing is not to drain the fat off the hamburger! We serve it with Frito's for the younger kids and cornbread for the older kids. Absolutely delish!
