Bone Broth Hummus
"If you’re looking for a nutritious snack to make in a matter of minutes, this bone broth hummus recipe will make sure you’re never left “hangry” again. With hints of garlic and lemon, this hummus recipe is full of Mediterranean flavor, and it’s also high in several essential nutrients, such as healthy fats, calcium, and vitamin C. The addition of bone broth also adds type II collagen, a beneficial protein found only in bones and connective tissue, which is known for improving gut, skin, and joint health. As an added bonus, the vitamin C from the lemon juice can actually help you better absorb the non-heme iron (plant iron) from the garbanzo beans—which isn’t absorbed as easily as the heme iron from animal products."
NotesNote: if you’re prone to digestive issues, such as gas or bloating, we recommend soaking your garbanzo beans in filtered water with a splash of apple cider vinegar overnight, or for 8-10 hours. This will help to break down the phytic acid, a protective coating found on the outside of beans, grains, and lentils, which can be difficult to digest.
