Italian Style Salisbury Steaks

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup Italian dressing
  • 2 cups thinly sliced onions
  • 2 cups thinly sliced mushrooms
  • 8 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl, thoroughly combine first six ingredients. Shape into 4 or 6 oval patties, then place in 1-1/2 quart oblong baking dish; set aside. In medium skillet, heat Italian dressing and cook onions and mushrooms over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in tomato sauce and basil. Spoon tomato mixture over patties and bake 30 minutes or until done.
