60 Minute Orange Breakfast Rolls
For a wonderful, refreshing spin on the usual morning cinnamon rolls, try these orange breakfast rolls. They are a sweet taste of heaven!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup quite warm milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 package yeast
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
- Combine milk, salt, sugar, yeast, egg, shortening and flour and knead.
- Roll out into a 12"x7" rectangle.
- Combine butter, orange rind, orange juice and sugar.
- Spread the dough rectangle with half the mixture.
- Roll up the long way and cut 12 rolls.
- Place in a 9" round pan.
- Let rise 25-30 minutes.
- Bake 20-25 minutes at 400F degrees.
- While still warm, frost with the other half of the orange mixture.

They tasted more like biscuits than rolls. Also, the temperature is too high. They were done after 10 min. The icing is good though.

Depending on the type of yeast you use you don't have to proof the yeast. However, to be safe proof the yeast for a few minutes in the warm milk so long as the milk is not too hot as to instantly kill the yeast. Hope this helps! - RecipeLion Editors

I have made cool-rise rolls where you make it, slice and put in greased pan, cover with plastic rap and sit in fridge over night - they should raise in the fridge. Carefully remove plastic wrap and let sit for a few minutes. Bake as usual.

I tried this recipe for the orange breakfast rolls and they truly are a taste of heaven.I did put a thin layer of cream cheese on my dough after I had rolled it out and then put the orange,butter,suger mixture and then rolled it up.I had to let it rise for about and hour and 20 minutes but they are so worth it,and so easy.Best recipe I have found in a long while.Will make these often.Thank you
