"This Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake is loaded with sweet, tart cherries in their own syrup swirled through a deliciously moist cake. Who says you can’t have cake for breakfast? Cherries are finally on sale around here so I wanted to find a new way to use them. The obvious thing to do would be to make cherry pie which is awesome and it would have made everyone happy but how about something for breakfast? Although, truth be told, I have never been against having pie for breakfast but why not cake? This Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake is delicious any time of day, though."

This looks delicious. I too was expecting a shortcut using canned pie filling, so I was pleased to see this was pretty much entirely from scratch. I'm wondering if the same recipe could be easily adapted to another fruit, like blueberries. My wife loves cherries, so this would be a great cake for her to have in the morning.

I am very impressed with this recipe! I was expecting a canned cherry filling and/or a store-bought boxed cake mix but this recipe is all homemade! Frozen or fresh fruit doesn't matter both would work well with this recipe. Perhaps, some chopped nuts would be a good texture addition. And of course, it would be great with a dollop of Greek yogurt or whipped cream on top!
