Tracing the recipe back to where it first appeared in Taste of Home, I saw it calls for a 10 inch tube pan. Looking at the photos and estimating from the strawberries and spatula, it's a really small cake, so the layers are going to be thin. I also noticed this recipe gave a number of people some problems since the cake was smaller than expected and they weren't expecting something closer to a pound cake. When our strawberries start coming in, I'll give this recipe a try since it looks yummy and delicious.

I just read on the site the recipe blog a comment made that the cake is supposed to be dense, but I still don't understand how, with so little batter, she was able to cut it into three layers. There isn't any baking powder in the recipe either. It really is a small cake so the photo is deceiving. I wanted to be able to have two layers of filling. That's one of the reasons I made the cake.

The cake was dense and I followed the instructions exactly. Also, it is not enough batter to fill a tube pan. It is a small cake so cutting into three layers is not really possible. The taste is okay, but I was disappointed in the results so I gave it a two stars. It's almost misleading. However, I always appreciate people posting recipes.

My son wanted this cake for his 17th birthday, and he loved it. My family killed the cake the next day. Thanks.
