Peppermint Fudge Cake
"This Peppermint Fudge Cake is one of the best Christmas desserts. The homemade fudgy chocolate cake has no peppermint in the cake batter to prevent an overpowering flavor. Instead, the peppermint is added to the luscious buttercream frosting. You get a decadent layered chocolate cake with minty frosting in between each layer. It’s the perfect balance. Chocolate ganache is layered over the top of the cake, candy cane pieces decorate the sides, and swirled peppermint frosting is a finishing garnish. The cake is the perfect dessert for every holiday party!"

Mint chocolate is one of my absolute favorites, so when I came across this recipe, I knew I had to give it a go. I thought I would miss the peppermint flavor in the cake itself, but the frosting provides the minty taste I was looking for. When I make it again I might add a drop or two of the peppermint extract to the cake batter. Also, instead of the crushed candy cane garnish, I used some crumbled dark mint chocolate bars.

This cake looks amazing! I love anything with peppermint and the combination with chocolate makes it even more yummy! This would make a great Christmas dessert or to take with you to a holiday dinner or buffet. I love the crushed candy canes as decoration around the bottom. You could even decorate the top with candy canes! Very festive!
