Grandma's Turkey Chili
Ground turkey meat recipes have always been a hit with Grandma. Something about that turkey cooking just reminds her of the old country. Her low fat recipes using ground turkey are so delicious! Her turkey chili is a particular favorite with the whole family. Now her secret recipe is available for everyone to enjoy. That woman sure does have a way with her turkey!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 7 ounces ground turkey
- 1 can Italian tomatoes, drained (1 cup)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper, crushed
- 1 can kidney beans, (optional)
Instructions
- Spray a 3-quart saucepan with non-stick cooking spray and heat over medium-high heat.
- Add turkey and onion and using the back of a wooden spoon to crumble turkey meat.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until turkey is browned (about 5 minutes).
- Add remaining ingredients and stir well to combine.
- Reduce to low heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until chili is thick (for about 25 to 30 minutes).
- Remove bay leaf just before serving.
