How to Store an Avocado
If you want to keep a cut avocado for use later, try storing it in a tightly lidded container with a piece of onion. No longer will you have to waste a perfectly good half of an avocado just because it's starting to brown. Cut the onion and place the cut side against the cut side of the avocado the sulphur in the onion will keep the avocado from reacting and turning brown and slimy. The avocado can be stored this way for 1 or 2 days. It's that easy and it really works!

This is a really interesting method to store an avocado. I have tried coating my sliced avocado with lemon or lime in the past and it worked pretty well. I am eager to try the onion method. I'm a little worried about the avocado just smelling like strong onion in all my recipes though. Has anyone tried this yet that can say if it tastes like onion?

Wow. I had no idea. I would have guessed lemon juice too, but it makes sense that it wouldn't work like it does for apples. This is good to know!
