Ham and Turnip Bake

Ingredients
- 5 cups diced turnips
- 2 cups coursley ground cooked ham
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper
- 1 cup grated process American cheese
Instructions
Cook diced turnips in 1 inch of boiling water for about 15 minutes or until tender; drain and mash. Add remaining ingredients except cheese. Pour into slightly greased Crock-Pot. Cover and cook on High setting for 2 to 4 hours (on low setting for 4 to 8 hours). Before serving, sprinkle with grated cheese. 4 servings (about 2 quarts). NOTE: Ground cooked Chicken, Turkey or Beef may be substituted for the Ham.
