Slow Cooker Summer Sausage & Cabbage
The best part about this easy recipe with cabbage is that it cooks in the slow cooker so you can get things done around the house. Made with cabbage, sausage, and potatoes, it's an all-in-one meal.

Ingredients
- 2 large polish sausage links cut up in slices, or sausage of your choice
- 4 medium russet potatoes, cut into cubes
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions

Cut sausage into 2-inch chunks.

In slow cooker arrange alternate layers of potatoes, meat with onions and cabbage. Sprinkle with salt and caraway seeds. Pour chicken broth over all.
- Cover and cook on low 5 to 6 hours or until cabbage is tender. Makes 6 servings.

my mom made similar to this when I was a kid, only she used real good quality german weiners from a local family business, and put it in the oven. (no slow-cookers then) I tried this with the sausage, and it's real good, but I might try to find some of the old-time german weiners again.
