I made this recipe because my son really enjoys it. Personally, I don't care for a sweet macaroni salad. The thought of adding 3/4 cup sugar makes this a dessert to me. I prefer mayo instead of salad dressing and sometimes add a touch of purchased pesto to the salad to shake it up.

This macaroni salad recipe has many different ingredients from my traditional recipe. I like how colorful this salad is with the bright, healthy vegetables. Unfortunately, my family, including myself, would probably pick out most of the veggies! I will try it once, though, because I think it sounds like a good summer side dish.

I rarely cook macaroni but this is certainly a recipe I'd like to try. When I do prepare a macaroni dish it usually contains cheese as one of the main ingredients. Using mustard in a salad like this one is also quite interesting for me because I mostly use mustard as a dressing for sandwiches and hot dogs. I'm looking forward to trying mustard in salads now.

I love pasta salads and trying out new ones. I've had ones quite similar to this Amish dish and enjoyed them, but I prefer to delete the hard-cooked eggs in favor of cubed or shredded cheddar cheese. The shredded carrot is something I've not come across before, and I'd like to give that a try. I might also use bowtie pasta since that works very well for pasta salads.

I can't believe how much wonderful flavor and color this macaroni salad has. This is such a great recipe. This is now the only way I will make macaroni salad. This is so creamy and delicious, it's hard to believe that I ever ate any other macaroni salad. I love this served with a pulled pork sandwich. So Good!

I may never make macaroni salad any other way again. This Old Standby Amish Macaroni Salad is so robust and flavorful it is a welcome addition to any meal. You could easily add tuna or grilled chicken and this could easily stand on its own for lunch. This is my "go to" macaroni salad recipe from now on.

This macaroni salad looks fantastic - colourful and yummy! I like the fresh chopped vegetable in this recipe, adds a nice crunchy texture with the macaroni. This would be great to bring to a potluck or serve at a summer get together or barbecue. I bet it would taste good with some tuna added also, to add some protein and make it a bit more filling. Can't wait to try this one!

My boys love this Macaroni salad. To tell the truth, I do not use vinegar, as they are picky about it but everything else goes so perfectly together and makes this salad a great dish, specially if you are running out of time. Sometimes, i add something more ,sometimes I don't have handy everything ,but still is one great win recipe.I might just try to dig some more Amish recipe as well in our kitchen this season.

I'm not worried whether this salad is Amish or not, or where its from, it looks appetizing. It is hot here in South Africa and cold salads go down well. It is satisfying that cold pasta is added as it makes the salad more filling. I also like this recipe as it doesn't have a creamy dressing. I find creamy dressings weigh down a salad.

This reminds me of family get-togethers when I was young. Brings back memories...

So how is this Old Standby Amish Macaroni Salad different from the macaroni salad we make at home? Looking at the recipe, it says this uses "traditional, old-fashioned flavors of Amish cooking such as celery, onions, carrots, and green bell pepper. So those ingredients are what make this recipe Amish. I do include celery, onions and shredded carrots in my macaroni but never green bell pepper. It's worth trying to do this Amish recipe though. Those ingredients have great benefits to the body

Just took for a funeral reception, it was a hit. I used 1/2 cup Miracle Whip w/ Olive Oil 1/2 c of plain yogurt. My husband accidentally used a jalapeno mustard and he used less sugar.

I loved this macaroni salad!

Excellent salad - the next time I make it, however, I will cut back just a bit on the mustard - start with 1 T. and work up from there.
