Strawberry Shortcake Biscuits
"Strawberry Shortcake Biscuits are one of my favorite desserts, ever, and when you pair them with fresh, sweet berries? Amazing. A sweet sour cream whipped cream tops the fresh sliced strawberries and strawberry sauce, and a biscuit that is there to soak it all up. Strawberry Shortcake is one of my favorite desserts, but I usually eat it with an angel food cake base, or a pound cake base. Not anymore. These tender buttermilk biscuits were the perfect base for the strawberries and sweet sour cream whipped cream."

We've used strawberry jam on biscuits plenty of times, but I hadn't ever thought of using them as a base for strawberry shortcake. It's always been angel food or pound cake for us as well. This is an interesting idea and the biscuit recipe looks quite good. I don't think we've ever used buttermilk powder before and I'll have to give it a try and see how it differs from using regular buttermilk.

We always use biscuits for out strawberry shortcake base. I don't recall ever seeing or using buttermilk powder. I will have to check it out. Choosing to make homemade biscuits with this recipe makes me think it needs to go further, homemade whipped cream too! The texture of a biscuit is perfect as it allows the juices o soak into the bread without it becoming soggy. Nothing like yummy fresh strawberries and this summer dessert!

Are these Strawberry Shortcake Biscuits good or WHAT!! I made a batch on Saturday and every single one had been eaten by Saturday night! Buttermilk powder is not a thing here in Africa but my attempt at improvisation worked out ok but I think it could be improved next time. And there WILL be a next time cos this recipe is a keeper!
