Thanksgiving Apple Salad
This sweet, decadent apple salad is a staple at our Thanksgiving table. We serve it with all the usual items, such as turkey and stuffing, but my cousins like it for dessert. Try it both ways and see which you like better.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 can (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
- 1/2 stick butter
- 4 large red apples, diced
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, halved
Instructions
- Stir together sugar and flour.
- Whisk in cream.
- Pour cream mixture into heavy, non-aluminum saucepan.
- Continue mixing, add pineapple and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens.
- Add butter.
- Remove pan from heat and let mixture cool.
- When cooled, add apples, nuts, and cherries.
- Mix well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

This is pretty sweet. This is more for dessert, in my opinion. I think I would prefer a different fruit to the cherries. I prefer other fruits. But, my husband loves cherries. I do like sweet fresh cherries. Maybe I will try that next time. Or maybe even some grapes.

Great for breakfast! Cooking rice takes a lot of my time. This apple salad recipe looks delicious and easy to prepare. Eating apples everyday boosts my immune system, keeps my stomach full and lets me focus on work. Now I got a new recipe that I could prepare every morning. I like this!
