German Potatoes
If you're sick of the same old side dish recipes, try this amazing recipe for potatoes! German Potatoes are potatoes smothered in bacon and cooked with cabbage, so the flavor combination is out-of-this-world. Like any German recipes, this dish is comforting and full of flavor. Plus, this recipe uses budget-friendly ingredients and couldn't be easier to prepare, so you'll want to make it for every weeknight meal.

Ingredients
- 4 to 6 baking potatoes, chopped
- 6 to 8 slices bacon
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
Instructions
- Fry bacon until crisp in a large pan, remove and crumble. Brown onions in bacon grease, until transparent and slightly brown, remove and set aside.
- Place potatoes in the same pan with the bacon grease, plus add 1 tablespoon of oil. Cook potatoes until just soft.
- When potatoes are almost done, mix in the bacon and onions and layer cabbage on top. Cover with a lid and turn heat to low. Cook for approximately 10 minutes until cabbage is soft.
- Remove lid, turn heat to medium, and cook until potatoes and cabbage are soft, approximately 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper and serve.
