I was living in South Carolina the first time I went to an Olive Garden. It turned out to be one of my favorite restaurants when I was in the mood for Italian. I never attempted to make Fettuccine Alfredo from scratch, but this recipe seems easy enough. This will be one of those special occasion meals as it is not the most healthy option, but it sure sounds good.

I just ate Fettuccine Alfredo from Olive Garden on Friday and I was thinking I wish I could make this at home! I've tried many recipes but they are never as think and creamy as restaurant alfredo sauce. I think the secret ingredient must be the cream cheese! This meal is a real treat since it is SO rich, but I look forward to being able to make this at home for my family! (Now I need a recipe for the garlic breadsticks!!!)

Remember to partake of everything in moderation. Yes all of these tasty ingredients are not the most healthy but a serving size won't hurt. How many of use really serve our plates in proper portion sizes? Not me. This is a recipe to make when you know a lot of family will be there to help you consume it.

Thanks!! I actually ended up using the half & half, cuz the fat is cit in half that way. But then I added a bit more cheese to make it thicker, and also used 3 cloves of fresh garlic instead of powder. It was so delicious! It truly tasted just like Olive Garden's recipe and I would definitly make this recipe again. YUM!!!!.

@Chef 9158078: You can certainly use lighter cream in this recipe. However the sauce might not be as thick and rich as it would be if you were to use heavy cream. Regardless, I think light cream would make a great substitute if you are trying to save calories in this recipe! -- RecipeLion Editor

OMG!! I have made this recipe and it is amazing. It it the best alfredo I ever had. It is quick and easy. Even my picky eater can't get enough. It is very rich and you know the calorie contact is astronomical but every once and a while you have to splurge--and this is worth it.
