Sunflower Seed Coleslaw
This sweet and nutty slaw complements crisp cabbage with sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and honey. Sunflower Seed Coleslaw is a no mayo coleslaw recipe that's full of flavor and good for you too!
Notes
For best flavor, mix a day or two ahead of time and refrigerate.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/8 cup sesame seeds
- 8 cups cabbage, grated fine
- 1/2 cup red pepper, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- fresh ground pepper to taste
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Roast sunflower and sesame seeds in a dry skillet or toaster oven over medium heat. Stir or shake often. Seeds will brown and start to pop in about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove seeds from heat and mix them with cabbage and red pepper.
- Add canola oil, lemon juice, cider vinegar, honey, and sugar. Blend well and salt and pepper to taste.
