Ingredients

  • 1 unpeeled orange, cut into pieces
  • 1 (12-ounce) package fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place half the cranberries and half the orange pieces in food processor. Pulse until mixture is evenly chopped. Transfer to a medium sauce pan. 
     

  2. Repeat with remaining cranberries and orange slices. Stir in sugar and cinnamon.

  3. Bring mixture to a boil over medium high heat.  Reduce heat to medium low and simmer until mixture becomes a vibrant red and sugar is dissolved, about 15 minutes.  
     

  4. Transfer to a dish and cool.  Refrigerate until ready to serve. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Hmmmmmm, unpeeled oranges...am I reading this recipe correctly or did I miss something? I don't think I've ever eaten anything with the orange peel before but the combination sounds amazing, as cranberries are probably one of my most favorite things about Thanksgiving dinner. I'm guessing the addition of oranges and cinnamon will really make me never go back to the traditional way of eating cranberries again. Yum!
