    Make Ahead Angel Biscuits

    If you're hosting a dinner party, why not make things easier on yourself by doing some of the prep work ahead of time. This recipe for Make Ahead Angel Biscuits is a lifesaver when you need to prepare dishes a few days before the actual meal. The dough for these angel biscuits can be refrigerated in a covered bowl for up to 3 days! Be sure to add this to your list of easy make ahead recipes... it's sure to come in handy sooner rather than later.

    Ingredients

    • 2 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • pinch baking soda
    • 1/8 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 1/4 cup warm water
    • 1 package dry yeast
    • 1 cup buttermilk

    Instructions

    1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside.
       
    2. Mix dry ingredients in order and cut in shortening.
       
    3. Stir in buttermilk and dissolved yeast. Blend thoroughly. Dough can be refrigerated in a covered bowl for up to 3 days.
       
    4. Knead dough lightly on a floured board or surface. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.
       
    5. Place biscuits on greased baking sheet. Let rise slightly.
       
    6. Bake at 400 degrees F until golden brown.
