Wow! Kale chips. Kale is a green leafy vegetable packed with vitamins and minerals that is great for you and me. It is an amazing antioxidant that will remove free radicals from your body that are the cause of a lot of diseases and disorders in the body.

These don't keep for a long time, as they tend to absorb moisture that is in the air, but they are great fresh out of the oven! I saw a recipe quite similar to this on the Dr. Oz show a while back, but didn't get a chance to write it down as I was on my way out the door. I had some sesame tahini on hand that I used in place of the almond butter, and they turned out great! This would make a great vegan garnish / topping crumbled over a soup!

This recipe looks like one I'd like to try. I haven't made anything with kale as I have trouble finding a recipe that looks good. I have seen kale chips prepackaged in the produce section and I think it was the same type seasoning as this recipe. They were called nacho kale chips. My question is how long do the chips stay fresh for?

It was very distracting having to go to two separate links just to get the recipe (first on recipelion.com and then when you go to the blog, theres another link you have to click on to get the recipe). My mom made kale chips a few times and they taste really great though I believe the recipe she used was a lot simpler (less ingredients). To answer Gck24 7816915, I don't know about this specific recipe but the ones my mom has made never did stay crispy (it would get soggy within a couple of hours probably and it's only okay if you don't mind the soggy kale). Could you do without the almond/nut butter? How much will this alter the recipe? I dont care to buy specific (and less common) ingredients for specific recipes when I dont plan to use it very often.

I also grow alot of kale in my garden and use it just about everything - smoothies, soups, stews, etc but I have never tried making kale chips before. My family is always looking for ways to eat healthier, and I'd love to try this crunchy, spicy and healthy snack! I love cumin so they sound delicious! I'm wondering if you can make these ahead and eat later - do they stay crispy? Or is it better to make these and eat immediately? Can't wait to try these!

I first had kale chips when my fiance's aunt was visiting. Our garden was overflowing with kale and we couldn't use it fast enough. She showed me how to quickly and easily whip up a batch of kale chips and I was super impressed. I really like how this version uses both chili powder and cumin. They are so flavourful! A quick tip, that I discovered the hard way, is to keep a super close eye on your chips while they're cooking. They will go from crispy and perfect to disgusting burnt nuggets in an instant! Learn from my mistakes!

If you grow kale, you can never have too many recipes using it. My daughter loves kale so I grow it and it grows crazy fast. Most recipes call for olive oil, salt, and pepper. So, this is a big switch flavor-wise. Kale chips are so light that you can just eat a ton without realizing it. It is really important that the chips don't brown. They develop a burnt flavor. I love the bold spicy flavor in these chips. Cumin is one of my favorite spices to use.
