    Amish Cornbread with Amish Starter

    Cornbread is a staple of any dinner. Amish Cornbread with Amish Starter is a wonderful recipe that makes a crumbly bread your family will love. Enjoy with honey and some butter for a delicious treat of Amish cooking.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Amish batter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cup milk
    • 2 teaspoons sugar
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 1 1/2 cup cornmeal
    • 1/4 cup oil
    • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
       
    2. Combine batter, eggs, milk, sugar, flour and cornmeal in large bowl and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
       
    3. Add oil, soda, salt and baking powder. Mix well and pour in well greased 9" pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

    I was really hoping to make this cornbread today, but unable to locate the amish batter recipe to prepare. Help?!?!

    Amish Batter Starter 1 cup sugar 1 cup flour 1 cup milk Directions Day 1 - Do nothing; it has been stirred Day 2 - Stir (use wooden spoon or plastic) Day 3 - Stir Day 4 - Stir Day 5 - Add 1 c. milk, 1 c. sugar, 1 c. flour Day 6 - Stir Day 7 - Stir Day 8 - Stir Day 9 - Stir Day 10 - Add 1 c. milk, 1 c. sugar, 1 c. flour Stir, then pour 1 cup into 4 containers, these are now starters. Give 3 away and keep 1. You can make Cinnamon Bread or Friendship Bread with what is left in your container. *****Then once you have your starter ready here are several recipes to use it for. Mix. Pour in 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 350*F for 50-60 minutes.
