Delicious Filipino Beef Stew
"Filipino beef stew is always a crowd favorite for family-style dinners. It captures the hearts of everyone regardless of gender and age group. There are many cultures that produce tasty and interesting stews. Generally, meat with bones is used in stews, from the neck to the shank. These were considered the more flavorful cuts. Root crops such as potatoes, carrots, and turnips were used to thicken and give body to the stew. In the Modern Era, the idea of the stew continues to evolve. With different regional ingredients added along the way, the beef stew has evolved from a simple entreé recipe to a more flavorful dish."
NotesAdding a cup of red wine will further enhance the umami flavor of the beef. The red wine gives a tangy finish that will satisfy your stew cravings. You can use peanut butter and omit the liver spread if you prefer. Adding a teaspoon of five-spice will level-up the dish even further.
