Droste Fudge Brownies
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Droste's cocoa
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup sifted cake flour
Instructions
Heat oven to 325. Mix all ingredients together well, beating for one minute. Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Bake 20 - 25 minutes or until done. Cut into squares while warm. Cool, then remove from pan. Makes 16 squares.

I've come across Droste cocoa before, but it's not all that easy to find around here. This is a pretty straightforward brownie recipe, though the addition of brown sugar is a bit new for me. I'm tempted to try and track down some of the Droste cocoa and give this recipe a try, along with making another batch substituting a more readily available cocoa for the Droste. Has anyone tried this recipe with Droste cocoa or another brand? Can something else (Ghiardelli, perhaps) be substituted?
